A Summer Intern’s First Week!

May 24, 2007

Hey, everybody!  I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks to everyone around here that has welcomed me back for the summer.  I love this place and the ministry we can do together, and that’s why I am back!  This first week has been kind of a whirlwind- from moving back to town to two big meetings to planning to designing to teaching to hanging out- but it’s all great.

I would like to personally invite you all to dinner and Bible Study on Thursday nights (starting at 6:30 pm at the Wesley House- check out our website for directions www.myuumc.com).  The dinners are always amazing, and I hope the Bible Studies will be interesting and stimulate some good conversation.  For the next 5 weeks, we will be studying John Wesley’s “Order of Salvation” (John Wesley… Wesley Foundation.. get it…).  We will basically be going over what we specifically as United Methodists, who follow the thinking of John Wesley, think about grace and the path from our birth to our salvation on into eternal life.  This week we will be discussing Original Righteousness and Original Sin.  Next week is prevenient grace.

Of course, tomorrow (Friday) is the big day for Pirates.  We will be meeting for dinner at McAlister’s on Archer at 7 and then seeing the new movie at 8:40.  I am so pumped.  I think its going to be out of control…

Anyway, I hope that you’re having a great week, and I hope to see some of you tonight!

Peace, Dan

Summer Begins!

May 14, 2007

Hey, everybody!  Today marks the beginning of Summer A and Summer C classes at UF, and that means that UF Wesley is back in business.  Well, technically, we were never out of business- you were probably just out of Gainesville…

We have an exciting summer ahead of us.  We’ll still be having Sunday morning worship at 10:30am at the PDCSC (corner of University and NW 14th St.- across from Matherly Hall) each week.  Our Thursday gathering is being bumped up to 7 pm, and in a week or two we might even be starting a dinner- keep your eyes peeled for that.  Soon, we will also be having regular movie nights over at Pastor David’s house.  And, of course, the summer is all about hanging out which happens pretty much all of the time.

Check out our website (www.MyUUMC.com) for details on events and rides and all of that good stuff.  It will be completely overhauled soon, so keep an eye out for that too.

Peace,
Dan the Summer Intern

PS- I will be in Gainesville starting this weekend (I have to finish some pesky grad school finals this week), and I am so excited about the opportunity to spend the summer with all of you!
